What a change!!

Wow! What a difference a year makes.  Last year at this time I was working full time as a Park Ranger and going to school.  I thought I was tired then.  Ha! Going to school full time and student teaching is WAY more tiring!  I can't imagine what next year is going to be like when I am teaching full time on my own. One or two lessons a week is nothing compared to managing, grading and teaching everyday.  I have a healthy new respect for what my mentor teacher does everyday.  It's nap time!

  1. What an interesting backstory! How will your expertise and experience as a park ranger help you in the classroom? Do any of the qualities cross over from one occupation to the other?

  2. I almost find the science expertise overwhelming. I want to teach the students every little thing and I am coming to realize that I can't. Cognitively most are not ready for the information I want to pour over them. I do know that having worked in the "service" sector for the last 15 years has helped me see all sides to the story before I make decisions. This quality definitely will help in the classroom. I also 100% believe that people need to get outside as much as possible and I plan to implement many lessons outside. I can't wait spread my passion for the environment to my future students.
